The Classical Chorus of Abilene, Inc. and its mission
to preserve and encourage classical choral singing
in Abilene and surrounding areas, began in 1990
with a 23 member adult chorus. This non-profit
corporation now consists of over 100 singers, first
grade through adult, in five choirs, from all over the
Big Country.
Dr. Paul Piersall serves as director of the Classical
Adult Chorus. Dr. Piersall received his BA and MA
degrees from Central Washington University and
the doctor of musical arts in vocal performance
degree from the University of Oregon. He has been
involved as a singer or conductor in university and
professional choral ensembles for over 40 years
and currently serves as professor of voice, director
of the University Chorale, and associate department
chair at Abilene Christian University.
Mr. Jonathan Krake directs the Classical Youth
Chorale and Classical Youth Chorus. Mr. Krake is
a two time honor graduate of Hardin-Simmons
University where he received both his Bachelor
of Music in Music Education, with an emphasis

in both voice and piano, and Master of Music
in Choral Conducting. Mr. Krake is currently the
Worship and Outreach Pastor of Southwest Park
Baptist Church. Mrs. Gaye Lynn Williams leads
the Classical Children's Chorus. She received
a Bachelor of Sciences degree in education
with a specialization in music from Abilene
Christian University in 1980 and has worked as
a music teacher and an elementary classroom
teacher in both the public and private school
settings. Mr. Isaac Bray, conductor of the new
Classical Boys Chorus, is currently working on
his undergraduate degree in Music Education
at Abilene Christian University and will be a senior
in 2008.
Future performances for the Classical Chorus of
Abilene this season include their annual Christmas
concert, I Heard the Bells, on Dec. 13; The
Language of Love, on Feb. 14 at the Elks Building;
the Adult Chorus concert, Musica bella dall'ltalia on
Apr. 4 at First Baptist Church; and the final youth
chorus concert, From Past to Present-15 Years of
Celebration, at the Abilene Civic Center on Apr. 25.Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra I V
